If you pay them, they will come
Recently, our Taco Bell KFC hybrid restaurant in one town over is having problems getting their staff to work for them and Kara, our higher up lady has been over there for a week in a half trying to get the staff to get back to work for them and so far, no luck and it's pissing their manager off who is now close to firing them all and they have to borrow one of our chicken chef who I nickname Okami after the Mane Wolf from Aggretsuko due to his laid back nature.
My manager, Ton like always complained about how hard it is for her to find anyone who wants to work with us now that school is back on and failing to find so called good help. She even threw in the whole it's better to have a crappy job or any job than no job at all. It made me wonder how blind to the world she is that we got inflation going on, gas prices are going up again, and wages are still in a stand still to the point that now we have to fight for 20 dollars an hour rather than 15 dollars an hour.
When I first worked in fast food, my wage at the time was over nine bucks and it wasn't enough to help me to live on my own compared to my current wage of 11.70 per hour that I'm making right now and I have to wait till Christmas for it to go up to twelve dollars per hour. Even with a longer shift I still wasn't making enough to make my bank account to grow fat with the past wages I was making.
Back when the buffet was open, I have some shifts that would go on from the Crack of dawn all the way to the dead of night. That was basically a twelve hours shift for one person who is tired, cranky, hungry again, and wants to go home so badly while doing the shift of two people. By subtracting an hour out of that today's earned wage due to being given a break, I made only 99 dollars just by working twelve hours long to attend the buffet and doing other work.
Twelve hours on my feet to refill side dishes and chicken while doing other tasks just to make 99 dollars in one day and to me, that is nothing but pocket change they've given me to sacrifice my remaining free time I could've used to rest and relax. By the time I go home, I only have about less than two hours of free time to eat and rest before I have to go to bed and come back to do it all over again but yet thankfully not another twelve hours shift to work on.
My work place is getting worst now all thanks to corporate who is dumping more heavy work loads on us by demanding my managers to give us more cleaning tasks to do and the new strict policy on what to do during lunch and dinner rush hours by having me stay upfront so our manager doesn't have to yell for us (these fuckers are screaming at us anyways no matter what it is) and we're not going to see a increase in our wages till December just to do these workload.
I can't stand my workplace anymore. After the new rules were made and Kara visited us, all of a sudden, Puko, a now one of my formally favorite manager has become a horrible person who bullies us, rudely talks to the employees and customers, and being snippy at everyone over what they're doing wrong and already made two Mondays I worked in to the point that I found myself crying my eyes out and my family getting angry at how they abused me over there.
Right now as we speak, I'm looking for work at other places and praying that I get my new job working at our local hospital in food service where the pay and the hours are great and leaving this shithole job behind for good cause the pay I'm getting right now is not worth the abuse they give me.
Managers, if you're wondering why you can't find good help these days, pay the fuck attention to what's going on in the world and why you can't find anyone to hire all because no one these days can't survive on the wages you and your company is giving us. I'm lucky to have family who live close to me to help out and I'm in a good spot but not everyone is like me cause unlike my managers, I actually give a damn about my co-workers and listen to what kind of struggles they got and why they're forced to work in fast food and then quit when the money they make is not helping.
If you want help so badly then you need to raise wages and stop treating your employees like shit when they make small mistakes or if they forgot to do a task cause we got busy. This is why the number one reason a lot of employees quit cause of how shitty managers are toward their employees and none of you have the rights to complain to us about why you can't find good help now of days while you're treating us like trash.
So do us all employees a favor and stop being an ass, help us fight for better wages, and learn how your employees are human being with feelings.
